FAQs
- Will inscribing a photograph change the value, the brilliance or the clarity of my diamond?
-
No. Maintaining your diamond's value, clarity and brilliance is our number one priority when inscribing your gemstone. The nano-photograph is safely injected just beneath the surface of your diamond without damaging the surface using our DiamondPure process. The value, brilliance and clarity of your diamond are preserved. It will be sparkling after the inscription exactly like it did when you got it. Since gemological laboratories measures diamonds clarity differently, Gemory specifies that the clarity grade is unchanged for clarity grades VS1 and below.
To prove the quality and the non-evasive nature of our process, we can use a third party gemological laboratory to measure your diamond’s brilliance and clarity before and after we inscribe it. A report showing that the brilliance is unchanged can be included if you decide to receive it. Our technology, which is protected by a pending U.S. patent, safely inject the photograph of your choice on any facet of your diamond. Gemory's new patented technique is much safer than current laser inscription practices used by other companies. The laser technique entails, heating the diamond to a high temperature, melting it locally and removing precious material from the stone. Additionally, a laser changes the diamond’s structure into a different material, graphite (black), which allows you to see the inscription. However, overtime, the graphite disappears making the inscription very hard to see. Gemory’s technology is truly safe for your stone as we do not etch your stone and maintain its purity.
Gemory's process non-invasively injects personal photos on any facet of a diamond without the local destruction caused by the current inscribing techniques.
If you decide to remove the nano-photograph from your diamond, the clarity, brilliance and value of your diamonds are also preserved. Gemory also developed a technology to erase the nano-photograph. Unless you use our removal process, your memories will remain forever. - How can I see the inscription?
-
The nano-photograph is invisible to the naked eye. With each Gemory diamond you will receive a report with a high quality image of your nano-photograph on your diamond. Additionally, you can see the injected nano-photograph yourself with the Gemory portable viewer called GemmaView. You will receive this viewer whether you buy The Memory Diamond or the nano-photograph service only. It is also available separately. This portable viewer also allows you to verify the authenticity of your diamond anytime you desire. The nano-photograph also acts as the perfect security measure to protect your gemstone from theft. It is like having your personal fingerprint permanently embedded in the diamond.
- What type of gemstones can have a nano-photograph injected inside?
-
Any gemstone or other substrate can be inscribed. However, all purchases done directly through our website are for diamonds only. If you want to place inscriptions on other substrates, please
contact us at info@gemory.com.
- How is my photograph injection done inside the diamond?
-
Gemory’s proprietary process uses innovative state-of-the-art nanotechnology. We safely inject the nano-photograph just under the surface of the diamond table. This process maintains the original brilliance and clarity of the stone. When purchase your Memory Diamond or the nano-photograph only you can choose to have a third party gemological laboratory, to measure the brilliance and clarity of every stone before and after the inscription to continuously insure the non-evasiveness of this inscription process.
- Will the picture last forever?
-
Yes. Since the nano-photograph is injected inside the diamond (just beneath the surface), it will last forever as it is now part of the diamond. Generations to come will be able to see your memories.
- If I decide to remove the picture, can I do it?
-
Yes, it can be removed by Gemory while fully maintaining the clarity and brilliance of the stone. The removal process will not change the weight of your stone. Since the process is unique to Gemory, we are the only ones who can remove it.

- I am a jeweler and would like to sell the Memory Diamond and the nano-photograph service. What
should I do? -
Please go to the “Become a Dealer” page. We have several programs for you to offer this exciting innovation to your customers. Our offers cover both new and existing diamond owners.
- Does this nano-photograph injection add security to my stone?
-
Yes. Gemory‘s patent pending inscription process is like a nano-fingerprint on your diamond. It can only be done in Gemory’s laboratory. It provides the most unique security feature for your precious gemstone. Once you have your own picture on your stone, you can use the GemmaView viewer at any time to verify the authenticity of your diamond. The alternative laser inscription technique can be copied very easily because the inscription is as simple as single letters and numbers. Would you take the risk to have a laser inscription on your valuable stone instead of Gemory’s most secure process?
- What is the gemstone size to inject a photograph?
-
We are placing nano-photograph on diamonds. It is so small that it is impossible to see with a naked eye. We can inscribe a nano-photograph on even 0.1 carat stone. There is no limitation on the larger stones either.
- Does the stone have to be mounted or not?
-
Our service is provided on loose diamonds (not mounted). At this point, we do not inscribe mounted diamonds. We recommend having your jeweler dismount your diamond before sending it and then remounting it when you get it back. If you would want to inscribe your nano-photograph on a ring, please contact us at info@gemory.com.
- How can I be sure Gemory does not swap my diamond?
-
If you decide to send your diamond to have a photograph injected inside, you can choose to have a third party gemological laboratory identify your stone and measure its properties (clarity, color, cut, carat, brilliance) before it goes to Gemory. After Gemory completes your photograph injected in your diamond, the stone is return to the third party tore-identify the stone, measure it clarity, cut, color, carat & brilliance. It is then sent directly to you.
